Why do us human beings when we're hurt or feeling negative we turn to hurting ourselves more indirectly?
Drinking has its comforting factor but most of the time its done in excess to "forget the worries" just to know that the next day we'll feel like crap and/or won't remember.
When did this become acceptable?
Why?
Why bandage the wound instead of treating it?
Why do we mask our hurt, sadness, despair, etc.?
We convince ourselves with false hope and misplaced faith, we have that feeling like we know there's something else that can help us but were scared because we don't understand it. But why do we need to?
If its going to help us feel better isn't that all that counts?
If we can turn to alcohol, drugs, sex, etc. why cant we turn to God?
Maybe its because we (humans) are scared to let go of something were familiar with & "think" we understand to trade it in for something we don't understand. take those of us that grew up getting everything we wanted, never in need, giving us a "sense" of fulfillment, maybe were thinking what can God give me that I don't already have?
Take the story/parable of Nicodemus, Jesus told him he had to get rid of all he had to follow Him but he walked away sad because he had many riches. Everything a person CAN own only provides temporary fulfillment/"happiness", etc. It's like telling the toddler 1 cookie now or 2 cookies later and its always the 1 cookie now. So, do we have an extended version of the child's quota "I want this & I want it now!" If time is something we can't get back why do we waste so much of it?
If it feels so good when we help others, why are we so selfish?
Why do we let embarrassment get the best of us?
Who care what people think?
If we're selfish beings then shouldn't we do what we want then , regardless of what people think?
Approval, rejection, acceptance, denial, independent, co-dependent, empathy, apathy, intelligence, stupidity, ignorance, pretending, being real, anger, fear, sadness, we're just melting pots of emotions, some of us slow cookers.
Why do we always realize the obvious in retrospect?
Why is it so easy for us to see the ugly in the world and not the beauty?
Then you take the ones that do do whatever they wants but if someone they care about looks down or disapproves of a certain action why does it discourage or stop them?
Because they don't want to "hurt" that person.
We all want to live up to the better version of ourselves.
Why do we feel the need to succumb to our cravings?
What happens of we don't?
ABSOLUTELY FREAKING NOTHING.
We need to stop acting like children with our tantrums!

James 2:1-7
James 2:1-7
1 My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism. 2 Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in. 3 If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” 4 have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? 5 Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? 6 But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court? 7 Are they not the ones who are blaspheming the noble name of him to whom you belong?
If we're to be CF & Christ-like then we should not have favorites. That is a form of judging because you are thinking that a person is better than the other based on clothes, status, education, background, etc. It's discrimination the verse even mentions that. If we are to treat others or at least look at others the way you want to be treated then we know we wouldn't want someone to make a favorite out of us or us NOT be made the favorite. God loves us all equally and were suppose to love equally also. If were not perfect then we know that no one is perfect. No one deserves something more than the other, we should be equal to each other if were equal to God. If we shoe favoritism how are we different than the world? When the rich suffer when they're lacking they're being ungrateful but when the poor embrace what they are given they are being grateful.

26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
When I read this it makes me think of a disobedient child or immature person who runs at the mouth when 1. they're told not to 2. when their comments are not welcomed 3. when what they say doesn't better the person(s) and/or conversations. One of the fruits of the spirit is self-control so as a CF were expected to exercise that. Previously in this chapter we were told to be slow to anger & slow to speak which also has to do with self control (and the tongue). people who are impulsive do not think things out and if they don't do that then they're also not taking into account anyone else feelings or thoughts resulting in them acting out of selfishness which is not from God. James 1:21-25
21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
Moral filth & evil are 2 powerful statements. When you think of dirt or something being unclean think about how bad it has to get to consider it filthy. So moral filth, the utter and utmost uncleanliness of our morals, the basics of right and wrong. So even though we ALL know what right and wrong is this is addressing the worst of the wrong. Evil we know to be the opposite of good-Godly- pure, etc. These 2 are so common in the world & as CF's you'd think we'd know to steer clear but sometimes obviously we don't or we wouldn't be told to do so. Whats the point of giving of your time & energy into something if you've no intention of applying it to your life. You wouldn't go to school & take a class you have no intention of applying to your life and/or career, so we as STUDENTS of the bible (bible STUDY) wouldn't put time and energy into the Word if we didn't have reason to apply it to our lives. Personally, I'd consider that foolish & foolishness is not from God & a CF shouldn't have thoughts and/or actions that lead to that.

Let Your Life Begin Again
"Behold, now is the day of salvation" 2 Corinthians 6:2
Did you know that Jesus has unlocked the prison doors of guilt that have kept you captive? It doesn't matter who you are or what you've been. I don't care if you've been a prostitute, murderer, thief, a drug dealer or a churchgoer who's never made Jesus Christ Lord of your life. The Bible says that today is the day of salvation.
A new life is only a prayer away.
Gloria and I discovered that for ourselves more than 35 years ago. Actually, it was Gloria who took the first step. She found out that the Bible says not even a sparrow falls without God's knowledge.
Well she thought, if God knows and cares when the sparrow fall, He must know what terrible shape my life is in right now. And if he cares, maybe he can do something with it.
Gloria didn't know anything about the Bible. She didn't even know for sure that God would let her start over. But when she told Him she wanted Him to take over her life, something supernatural happened on the inside of her. She was born again.
"But what about my past?" you may say. "I feel so guilty about it!"
When you've been born again and made a new creature in Christ - that past doesn't belong to you anymore. And it would be ridiculous to walk around feeling guilty about someone else's past, wouldn't it?
What would you think if I took a little baby on my lap, a pretty little thing just a few months old, and said, "Oh, isn't she precious? But just think about her past."
You'd think I was crazy! "What past?" you'd say. "She doesn't have any past!"
Well, it's the same way with you once you've been born again. You don't have any past. Your life begins again the day you make Jesus Lord of your life. Then, when Satan comes around trying to remind you of what a worm you were before, just tell him he's knocking on the wrong door.
You've been kicked around long enough. There's no need to wait any longer. The prison door is open. Walk through to Jesus and let your life begin again today.
