PROPER PERSPECTIVE
New Beginnings Church
Pastor Michael Shuster
11/20/11
Ephesians 5:19-20
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
3 Attitudes that keeps us from being thankful
1. Prideful attitude
Proverbs 16:18
Micah 6:8
2. Critical Attitude/consistent complaining
3. being indifferent or taking things for granted
1. Thanksgiving should be expressed
Luke 17
Romans 1:21
SAY THANK YOU TO GOD
Philippians 1:12
1. Spend time with Him
2. Forgive others
3. Serve
4. Share His plan of salvation
5. Reach out to hurting people
6. Give God the best of your time-talent-tithe
7. Praise Him with all your heart
2. Thanksgiving should be ever expanding
1. blessings
2. burdens
3. benefits
Romans 8:18
2 Corinthians 12:10
3. Thanksgiving is expected
1 Thessalonians 5:18
*God expects us to grow
*God expects us to give: time-talent-tithe
James 1:17
*God expects us to "glow"
2 Corinthians 4:8
11/30/11
After reading my devotional in "From Faith to Faith" by Ken & Gloria Copeland I read the accompanying verse Colossians 3:1-16. From the passage it convicted (even more so) that I am spending more time doing earthly/worldly things then that for Christ and/or His kingdom. Because of my procrastination and addiction to Facebook games there has been negative consequences. Before I read this passage I was already convicted & desire strongly to change my ways. I know only I can do this, it is out of my willpower that I must be more responsible & less lazy. I thank God for showing me the errors of my ways & I desire to cling to Him in all I do. Thank you Jesus for living inside me & making me aware of these thongs that i do out of my flesh. Amen.

JAMES 2:8-11
Having a relationship with Jesus is not a game. Save that for your friends or significant other. Jesus DIED for your sins so if you make him the Lord of your life, show some appreciation! Justifying our actions - especially to God - is such a waste of time and energy. BE REAL! Give Him 101% or don't give Him anything. We need to stop trying to find loopholes in our contract with Jesus. This verse talks about all sin being equal, comparing adultery & murder, of course in our eyes its not the same but were not suppose to understand God's actions, His thoughts are not ours & vice versa. Do or do not there is no trying. We can lie to ourselves and other by justifying our actions but God sees our hearts. So we just need to give us and God a break and cut the crap! Either we want to live for Him or we don't, we can't have our cake and eat it too. We're not suppose to understand Him were only suppose to trust Him. So why do we always say " I don't understand" maybe were not supposed to.

Phillipians 1:20-25
Life=Christ, not a what but a who
Christianity = relationship with God through Jesus
-not a set of rules or beliefs
1. Christ is the source of life
John 14:6
2. Christ is the end/aim of the Christian life
Are you willing to die for Christ?
You must die daily so Christ can live through you.
3. Christ is our model for life
For me to live is ________________.
1. What or who determines how you spend your time?
2. What or who determines how you spend your money?
3. What do you desire most in life?
To live is to give.
2 Corinthians 23:11
Others feelings should be put before ours.
Christ be exalted in my life either through life or death.

worrying = preoccupied
worry in greek = divided mind
we worry because we dont believe God can take care of us.
If youre not happy with Jesus alone, you'll never be happy
Do NOT depend on things, people, or experiences to make you happy because they will just let you down.
1. First reason to not be preoccupied with material things because its short sighted.
2. Secondreason to not be preoccupied with material things because its illogical - if God takes care of the birds & flowers that wither away & die in day, won't he take care of you?
3. Third reason to not be preoccupied with material things because its unprofitable - vs. 27 doesn't earn you anything, literally or figuratively, 90% of what we fear, never happens.
4. Fourth reason to not be preoccupied with material things its disgraceful to God vss.

Phillipians 1:20-25
Life=Christ, not a what but a who
Christianity = relationship with God through Jesus
-not a set of rules or beliefs
1. Christ is the source of life
John 14:6
2. Christ is the end/aim of the Christian life
Are you willing to die for Christ?
You must die daily so Christ can live through you.
3. Christ is our model for life
For me to live is ________________.
1. What or who determines how you spend your time?
2. What or who determines how you spend your money?
3. What do you desire most in life?
To live is to give.
2 Corinthians 23:11
Others feelings should be put before ours.
Christ be exalted in my life either through life or death.

"Biblical principles"
worrying = preoccupied
worry in greek = divided mind
we worry because we dont believe God can take care of us.

The Solution to Everyday Problems
The Solution to Everyday Problems
Many Americans are going through difficult situations now. Unfortunately, the majority of those Americans are dealing with these situations on their own, they don’t know where to turn and they don’t know what to do.
The stress of trying to deal with these issues causes problems at home and at work. And whatever the outcome, they accept it because they don’t feel like they have any other option. Now, more than ever, Americans need access to professionals who can help them deal with these issues.
At Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. we know people do not have to just accept their situation. Instead, we help them by providing them access to quality law firms across North American to help them with their issues. We recently asked our attorney network to tell us what subjects our members are calling in about the most. Take a
look:
• Consultation on and review of severance packages including how to negotiate a better package
• Mortgage consultation including loan modification, foreclosure, work-outs, refinancing and short sells
• Explanation of the Hope for Homeowners Act
• Credit and asset protection
• Credit card liability resolution
• How to return items such as automobiles and end the associated loan(s)
• Landlord/tenant issues including evictions
• Bankruptcies - Chapter 7, 11 and 13
• Lawsuits filed by aggressive collection agencies
• Child support payment enforcement
• Employment issues, especially relating to 401k’s
It’s our business to help Americans have access to quality legal services so when they are faced with an issue they don’t have to wonder what to do; instead, they simply pick up their phone and make a toll-free call to a Law Firm, which is dedicated to helping them receive the justice they deserve.
Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc.’s mission has always been to make the phrase “Justice for All” a reality. We’re even more driven as we see the negative effect the US economy is having on the American family. For a low monthly fee, our members have access to the legal system, something they can use for every day life events and even serious legal issues.

What propels love?
Is the whole world against us?
Can't we live the way we want?
Must we make so many bad choices?
I look into your eyes
There is another dimension
Where you and I
Live and love
From the outside judgments are made
Don't judge a book by its cover
That what I say
Sometimes it seems to get worse
But in the inside it's getting better
I do not think there is a single human soul
Who can understand why i am so into you
Why I love anything and everything about you
I know that it is true
That there is a feeling we share
Our future is uncertain
And the only person that knows
How it's going to turn out
is slowly fading from our sight
And if seeing is believing
What are we going to do?

So I worked last night at the Hilton and we were polishing silverware and I saw the sign that said "Happy St. Patrick's Day" & @ first I was confused then I realized next week is march...MARCH! I still remember new year's! So I said that to Lori, Michael Slintak & some others & Lori says "that's what happens when you're old" and we all continued to joke about it. But it got me thinking, if time goes by so fast how are we spending it? Working to make money to pay bills to enjoy things that waste our time. So were working to survive or waste time and/or both? On our tombstone is our birthdate and our death date and there's a dash that signifies our time in between, what did we do in that time? We worked, we watched TV, we slept, others drank/drugged/"partied" - is that the most we want to get out of life? Will we be proud when we look back at our life? If not, what have we done about it? What WILL we do about it? What do we do with what we have? For what purpose: selfish, Godly, unknown? I LONG to do more with my life I want to make a bigger impact on society, on the world, I want EVERYTHING i do to being glory to God! When I work, yeah I can witness to my co-workers & I can tithe the $ I make & I give donations to charities/missionaries but what happens when that becomes redundant? Am I being selfish wanting to do more for God? Is it a oximoron? I feel limited/stifled in what i want to for the kingdom :/ Have so many ideas but how/when can I execute them? Am I rushing God? Am I missing the little things? I pray God will reveal these things to me. I don't want to waste my time, I want to invest it all into God's kingdom.

my thoughts while sitting at a bar listening to karaoke and NOT drinking.
Why do us human beings when we're hurt or feeling something negative we turn to hurting ourselves more indirectly? Drinking has its comforting factor but most of the time its done in excess to "forget the worries" just to know that the next day we'll feel like crap &/or won't remember. When did this become acceptable? Why? Why bandage the wound instead of treating it? Why do we mask our hurt/sadness/despair? We convince ourselves with false hope and misplaced faith, we have that feeling like we know there's something else that can help us but were scared because we don't understand it. But why do we need to? If its going to help us feel better isn't that all that counts? If we can turn to alcohol/drugs/sex/etc. why can't we turn to God? Maybe its because we (humans) are scared to let go of something were familiar & "think" we understand to trade it in for something we don't understand...Take those of us that grew up getting everything we wanted never in need giving us a "sense" of fulfillment/contentment, maybe were thinking what can God give me that I don't have already? Take the story/parable of Nicodemus, Jesus told him he had to get rid of all he had to follow Him but he walked away sad because he had many riches. Everything a person "can" own only provides temporary fulfillment/"happiness", etc. It's like telling a toddler 1 cookie now or 2 cookies later & its always the 1 cookie now. So do we have an extended version of the child's quota " I want this and I want it now!"
If time is something we can't get back why do waste so much of it. if it feels so good when we help others, why are we so selfish?
Why do we let embarrassment get the best of us? Who cares what people think? If we're selfish beings then shouldn't we do what we want then regardless of what people think? Approval, rejection, acceptance, denial, independent, co-independent, empathy, apathy, intelligence, stupidity, ignorance, pretending, being real, anger, fear, sadness, were just melting pots of emotions. Some of us slow cookers.
Why do we always realize the obvious in retrospect?
Why is it so easy for us to see the ugly in the world and not the beauty? Then you take the ones that do whatever they want but if someone they care about looks down or disapproves of a certain action why does it discourage them or stop them? Because they don't want to "hurt" that person. We all want to live up to the better version of ourselves. Why do we feel we need to succumb to our cravings? What happens if we don't? ABSOLUTELY FREAKING NOTHING. We need to stop acting like children with our tantrums!

A HIDDEN TREASURE
A HIDDEN TREASURE Mark 4:14
Right now, at this very moment, you have hidden within you a treasure that can change the world. A treasure that can change a man's eternal destiny, that can take him to heaven and save him from hell. A treasure that can turn a person's poverty into prosperity, his sickness into health, his sorrow into joy.
You have within you the all-powerful Word of God.
Don't keep it to yourself. Plant it wherever you go! Sow it into the hearts of those you meet. Share it at every opportunity.
"But I don't know how!" you may say.
The start learning. let these three steps help guide the way.
One: make a decision. make up your mind and heart today that you are going to share the Word with others no matter what! Determine right now that it's the most important thing you'll ever do. Commit to it. Once you've done that, you'll find the rest is easy.
Two: Prepare yourself. Spend time meditating on the Word each day. Allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you. That will make it easy for you to minister to others. You'll be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and be able to hear His voice. He'll help you know what to say in each situation.
Three: Stay in faith. Once you've shared the Word with someone, trust God for the results. The Word of God does not return void. Even if they seem indifferent to you, even if it appears the Word had no effect, keep believing. Your faith will keep that Word alive inside them, and eventually, it will do its transforming work.
You have, hidden within you, a treasure that can change the world.
What are you going to do with it today?

A PROVEN SUCCESS
A PROVEN SUCCESS
Luke 15:21-22, 24
Prove yourself. In today's world, that's what you constantly have to do, right?
On the job, among friends, even at home you're always working to win the approval you need. Working to convince those around you that you deserve the salary, the friendship, and even the love they give you.
Is there any escape?
You better believe there is! It's called grace. Unearned and undeserved favor and acceptance. And there's only one place you can find it - in the heart of God Himself.
There's no better picture of God's grace in action that in the story of the prodigal son. Few of us today can really feel the impact of that story like those first Jewish listeners Jesus told it to. You see, by their standards the prodigal son had committed some of the most despicable acts possible. He'd not only taken advantage of his father and spend his inheritance in riotous living, he'd left the nation of Israel and made covenant with a foreigner - a pig farmer! That was as low as you could get.
In their eyes, that boy's rebellion was so serious his father's only recourse was to disown him,
But that's not what his father did! He welcomed his repentant son home with open arms. He offered him grace - unmerited favor - that was based on the father's love rather the son's performance.
Next time you catch yourself struggling to make up to God for something you've done wrong, working to win His approval, let the story of the prodigal son set you free. let it remind you that, in spite of your sins, your Father has received you with open arms. He's put a robe of righteousness on your back and His signet ring on your hand. He's put the shoes of sonship on your feet.
Do you feel unworthy of all that? Sure you do. You were unworthy of it. But God hasn't based His relationship with you on your worthiness. You don't have to struggle to prove yourself to Him. As far as he's concerned, you're a proven success.

YOU CAN OPEN THAT DOOR
YOU CAN OPEN THAT DOOR by Kenneth Copeland
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
Matthew 7:7
How long has it been since you were backed into a corner, hemmed in by a seemingly insurmountable problem? If you're anything like most folks , it hasn't been very long. Some of us spend years trying to work our way out of financial binds only to end up more bound by debt than ever. Others work frantically on marriages that, despite their best efforts, deteriorate from year to year. Still others fight losing battles against fear or depression, drug addiction or disease.
Deep within our hearts, each of us knows there must be an answer to the problem we face. But often it seems to be out of reach, hidden behind a door that's locked tightly against us.
What I want you to know today, however, is this: We can open that door! Jesus Himself has given us the keys.
Right now you may be facing a situation that looks utterly hopeless, but God has a key ring full of keys that will unlock any situation. He has the keys that open the doors for you spiritually and physically, financially and emotionally. No matter how hard the devil tries to trap you, if you'll get hold of that right key, you can find your way out.
God's Word is full of keys of kingdom principle's - keys to bind the devil's operations and keys to loose yourself from his snares. God has a key that will unravel any knot that the devil can tie. He also has a key that will lock up the devil's operation so tightly that he won't be able to move.
Remember this: There's no situation so dark and so cleverly designed by the forces of darkness that there is not a kingdom key that will unlock it with kingdom power.
There is an answer to your situation. So keep digging for it. If you've been digging in the Word of God in one spot and haven't found your answer , then look at another chapter, a different verse. Keep digging until you find the key. Keep knocking at every door until you find the one that opens.
